Laptop Requirement

  • A laptop is required for online testing.
  • Must include webcam, microphone, and speakers.
  • Reliable internet for home use is required (DSL/Cable, 6 Mbps or higher)
  • Keep operating system, browsers, and anti-virus software up to date.
  • iPads and tablets are not recommended for ATI proctored exams.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) is required for coursework. Office 365 is available -- contact Miranda Shake for access.
  • Students are responsible for antivirus protection and device security. Technical issues are not considered a valid reason for missing deadlines.
  • In addition, a small computer lab is available next to the library for your convenience.

Learning Platforms

  • Edvance360: Course content, lectures, assignments, grades. Requires an updated internet browser with JavaScript + Adobe Reader.
  • SONIS: Student records, schedules, grades, billing, transcripts, financial aid, and evaluations.

Text Messages

  • Set up through SONIS (Update Bio > Add cell phone + Provider > check "receive text messages" box). Text messages are used for emergency alerts and snow days.

Wireless printing

  • Each student received 1000 free pages per semester.
  • Beyond that, printing costs 5cents per page, and will be billed at the end of the semester.
  • Wireless printing is available while on LCN wifi. . 

Email Accounts

  • Each student is assigned an LCN email account. Username (first initial + last name).
  • Password: "lcn" + last 6 digits of your SSN (change on the login screen)
  • Same login used for Edvance360, SONIS, Campus computers, and Library OpenAthens login.
  • Email is the primary communication method with faculty.

Books and Supplies

  • Available through the .
  • Book list: View in > Academics > Books.
  • Used textbook exchange: Log into > Bulletin Board.
  • LCN uniform patches are available at the receptionist's desk.
  • Additional supplies include: scrub uniform, white coat, shoes, penlight, watch with a second hand, bandage scissors, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff with sphygmomanometer.
